Setup of your Water pipe Filling the base and adjusting the water level Before assembling the water pipe, the base should be partially filled with clear, cold water. The water level must be adjusted so that it does not cover the far end of the tube where the smoke enters by more than one inch. The far end of the tube should be immersed in water from half to one inch in depth. The water level can be checked by temporarily placing the body of the water pipe on the base. The water level must be adhered to so that inhaling in the smoke is agreeable and without difficulty. Assembly Once the water level of the base has been adjusted, you can start setting up the elements of the water pipe. The body is connected to the base. The unit can be made airtightness either by a circular rubber seal or by cotton strip rolled around the male part of the main body which fits into the opening of the base. If cotton strips are used, these should be moistened to improve the effect of the seal. The flexible tube which is used to inhale the smoke should be connected to the body of the water pipe. The end piece should also be fitted hermetically to the body of the water pipe. To do this, insert it with some force. The connection can be improved by wrapping the end piece of the tube a few times with masking tape or aluminium foil. Verifying airtightness It is at this stage that the air tightness of the whole unit should be checked. Close the opening at the upper part of the body using the thumb and apply suction to the flexible tube. If the pipe is airtight, no bubbling or air penetration of any significance should occur. You should even feel some suction effect on your thumb. If the connections are not hermetically sealed, check the seals or apply stronger pressure to the connections. If the test is satisfactory place the terracotta jar on the upper part of the body. It should also be fitted hermetically to the body by means of the connection provided. By closing the jar with the palm of the hand, check for airtightness one last time. N.B. Your water pipe was not built to be used deep-sea diving so if a slight leak should occur, this should in no way impede your enjoyment. |
